Critical Emotional Sound
Maximilian Tru
The Music Blog
It's not very often that a band comes along and surprises you. You know the kind. It's the sound that's interwoven into moments that you'll always remember because you can see the places and faces that co-authored the soundtrack of your life. Please listen to Metric in high-fidelity, compromise with no other surrounding...no lower than Bose! Finally, prepare for your own moment via a punch in the gut compliments of Emily Haines. Don't dare underestimate her.
Find the album- 'Fantasies' and listen carefully in a place that you can appreciate. I'm confident you will hear what I'm trying to delicately describe. Follow this experience with 'Grow Up and Blow Away'. It'll take you back and remind you that the time is now and be young for life. How's your gut?
Don't let this music grow on you because otherwise you've already thought too hard. Metric's songs are ambitious and bold. Just as you start sizing them up and placing them into a category, you discover you can't. And here lies the artistry. Now run out and get the album 'Live It Out' next. The third Act is always the best.
Here's a sound that you think you've heard a million times...but arranged in a different way? The lyrics are strong, familiar, and particularly diverse. Metric's songs are interesting. Perhaps in a way that reminds you of another song, or even worse a genre... But listen long enough and the surprises start to bloom... like Seattle in June. Lyrics start catching on and you fall in love with not an arrangement... but a voice. A smart, passionate woman that you know and feel. It's a leap, but if you can't appreciate this voice, then you need to break all your mirrors. It's not about you. It's about us. All for one and one for all. Fall in love with the sound of Metric...ok, maybe you don't take this seriously, fine...Fall in like.
Help, your alive!

Robots!
Robotic systems continue to evolve, slowly penetrating many areas of our lives, from manufacturing, medicine and remote exploration to entertainment, security and personal assistance. Developers in Japan are currently building robots to assist the elderly, while NASA develops the next generation of space explorers, and artists are exploring new avenues of entertainment. Collected here are a handful of images of our recent robotic past, and perhaps a glimpse into the near future. (32 photos total)

Ordering a regular sub without cheese and dressing helps some—the calorie counts for 9 of 23 dip below 500, but not by much. Phthalates and Your Children's Toys
'Phthalates have long been used as a way to make plastic soft and flexible. But the chemicals can leach out of plastic products and enter our bodies, where some scientists suspect they act like hormones. Phthalates have been shown to affect the development of the male reproductive system in lab animals, and a few small studies suggest they may be linked to subtle effects in the reproductive organs of infant boys.'
'...after fierce lobbying by Exxon Mobil, one of the largest producers of plasticizers in the world. Exxon Mobil spokesman Chris Welberry says the phthalate the company makes is safe, so there's no need for the new law or the provision.'
Toy companies are not required to publish what chemicals go into their toys because of 'trade-secrets'. The substitutes for Phthlalates may not be any safer.

Ryan's 25 Random Things continued...
21. Half-Life is my favorite video game because I believe that I could be Gordon Freeman
22. I believe that the meaning of life is to solve problems.
23. I had an imaginary friend for the longest time when I was younger. My family would always ask where he was…I got sick of answering them, so I imagined that my imaginary friend ran away.
24. My favorite food is organic corn chips and fresh salsa
25. I'm inspired by six- Marlon Brando, Neil Diamond, Elvis Priestly, Kurt Cobain, Neil Young…and Brandt Cooper
and here's a 26th just for clicking through...
26. I secretly like to fail
